The Backyard: Potential Can Happen!

Lots of splendid things have happened recently in the front yard, but now it's the backyard's time to shine!  I've been seeing lots of colors popping up in places that were previously drab and brown.  The weather here at home has been brilliantly warm, so the big guy and his cute wife have been able to open up the windows and doors to let the breezes flow through the house--it makes for premium-quality sunbeam naptime, I assure you.

Today I finally got let outside to go on an adventure, and I knew exactly where my first destination would be:

My head is full of whimsy!

Bosses!  These bosses are kind-of funny, in that they're a lot smaller than the front-yard bosses, but there's a dozen of them all sprouting out from the same plant.  I wonder if they're like a video game bad guy that looks big but when you whack him he splits into two littler things, and then when you whack those, they split in to two more smaller, littler things.  If that's the case, this guy must have gotten whacked a bunch of times, and must be VERY fast!  They seemed pretty nice to me, though, and were very happy to have company.

Next up were these purple guys that look like humorous trumpets:

These guys were very soft and very comfortable to wiggle in to.  I had fun imagining ridiculous sounds coming out of them.

Being a catball, I could not resist the urge to climb some trees, and when I did I found some very fascinating things there.

These guys are the cute wife's favoritest things on the planet.  She told me that she and the big guy had looked for a new home for many many months but could not find a decent place to put their things, but when she saw how many of these were in the back yard of this one particular house, she knew that she and the big guy had finally found their new home.

Potential

These things are made of what looks like a million tiny little purple dots, and I'm told that they are going to grow and become bigger and bigger dots and that they will smell divine, like springtime laundry and happiness.

Close to these guys, I found another thing to climb into, and this thing was a big yellow maze!

LOOK AT HOW CONFUSING THIS IS!!  What an incredible thing I found!  There are big wooden tentacles going every which way, some growing straight into the air, others curving and looping and weaving all about.  It's an incredible snarl of small but pretty yellow flowers and hidey spots and things to climb and sproing around on.  And I bet it's going to become even more fun and yellow and bright in the days to come.

That was a lot of excitement for one little catball, so finally I decided to take a big five.  It just so worked out that this was my favorite part of my entire adventure.

A nice shady grassy spot, ultimately, is best to be on.  I could stretch out and roll around and just be a catball for a while.  Sometimes the best part of an adventure is when you find what feels the most like home.

The Big Bosses Emerge! Another Adventure to the Front Yard

Last night I had a tossy-turny night of sleep thinking about what would happen once the big bosses of the front yard emerged.  I couldn't stop thinking about how big and tough and intimidating they looked.  Fortunately for me, my brother Round said he'd keep an eye on them with me and help me find the bravery to approach them.

Round
This morning, I could see that the Big Bosses had finally sprung forth from their underground compound, and were showing off how awesome they were.  All the other henchman flowers and mini-boss flowers looked up to them.  We could see them through the front door looking splendid.  Round was excited to meet them too when he saw how yellow they were.

Just like that, he opened the front door with me, and we bounded down the stairs together.

We perched on the bottom step to get a closer look at them.  Round, casting caution to the wind, went in for a closer look, and I followed.

"These guys are not so bad," Round said.  "They're cute!  And bright!  And somehow familiar!"

Round was right; just because they were the bosses of the front yard flowers didn't mean they were bossy.  They were sweet and gave us pats on the head.  We tried to be extra-careful not to trample on them or nom on them, not even a little bit.  We decided that the bosses of the front yard were good, because bosses only appear when there's work to be done, which means the front yard is going to start getting even more colorful in the future!  We can't wait to see what else shows up!

Today's Adventure: the Front Yard

Being a rather small catball, I decided that today a rather small beginning adventure was in order.  I see this place every day from my perch in my house, but with all the little bops and bips of color sproinging up, it gets more and more exciting a place every day.

Our house came with all these surprises buried in the front yard, and every year when winter starts to wrap up these guys peek their way through the dirt to say hi.  I think they're crocuses, but the big guy and his cute wife call them "hope."

There are purple ones and purple-stripey ones and occasionally yellow ones and little white ones sometimes that come out.  They have fun yellow powdery stuff in the middle of them that bees make bee juice out of.

There are big guys near by these little guys that must be kind of the mini-bosses of the front yard.

It looks like the BIG bosses are going to make their appearance soon...can't wait!

Intro to Catballicism

Hi there! My name is Catball. I am a catball. I am small and orange, but I try my hardest at everything I do. There's nothing I love more than going on adventures, especially with my brothers and our friend Whale Shark.

I originally came from a huge store with lots of umlauts in it, where I was kept in a big giant fun bin with a whole bunch of my brothers while we waited for new homes. A lot of us went to places where little kids live, which seemed terrifying but fun. I was picked out by a big guy and his cute wife to come to their house, and boy was I thrilled when I found out that they liked going on adventures, just like me! When they told me that we'd be going all sorts of places together, I could hardly stand the excitement. And over the years, when other brothers of mine needed homes, the big guy and his cute wife took them in, too. You'll meet the whole gang soon!

It's good to have a loving family to see the great big world with. Some places can be scary, or peculiar, or sometimes you just want to go home, but I find that when you smile, and you keep your eyes open and look for new friends, everything seems to work out okay. I hope you'll enjoy seeing all our adventures as we go here and there all together--maybe we'll come to your town real soon.

If you have any questions about where we've been or what you're seeing, feel free to ask and I'll have the big guy or his cute wife get back to you. You can follow us on Twitter at @letsgocatball or on Tumblr.
